This song was inspired by the life of St. Francis and a poem about him. I wrote it in 1978 when we were still under the communist regime and it was not until 2015 that I learned that this song had become popular in my country. It was such a surprise! This motivated me to record it and I was thrilled to have such great musicians like Ronnie McCoury - mandolin,  and members of his band (Jason Carter - Violin,
Alan Bartram - Upright Bass) record it with me.
